What is disk space and bandwidth?
| Disk space is simply how much hard drive space you need to store the files for your website. If you have a website that will use a lot of audio and video files, your site will need more space than a site that is more of an online brochure in nature. Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transferred to or from the website or server, measured in bytes transferred over a specific period of time. This can be more accurately described as “Monthly Data Transfer.” Web hosting companies often quote a monthly bandwidth limit for a website, for example 500 megabytes per month. If visitors to the website download a total greater than 500 megabytes in one month, the bandwidth limit will have been exceeded. |
